High school tennis Camden Hills, Belfast, Medomak Valley net court wins

The Medomak Valley and Oceanside tennis teams renewed their high school athletic rivalries on Tuesday, May 4, matches that saw the Panthers prowl to a pair of court victories.

The Panther boys netted a 5-0 road win over the Mariners in Rockland, while the Panther girls edged the Mariners 3-2 in Waldoboro.

The Camden Hills squads also were in action and split with Lincoln Academy of Newcastle as the boys swung to a 5-0 win, while the girls were dealt a 4-1 defeat.

Additionally, the Belfast boys also collected a 5-0 home win over Brewer.

Girls

Medomak Valley 3, Oceanside 2

At Waldoboro May 4, the Panthers edged the visiting Mariners.

The individual results, with Medomak Valley players listed first, were: In singles, Elle Ashmore beat Emma Carpenter, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4; Lizzi Swan beat Alexa Barstow, 6-4, 6-3; and Jordan Doughty beat Jaska Malone, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

In doubles, Ana Underhill and Hadley Angell lost to Alydia Hatch and Hazel Ragozzine, 2-6, 0-6. Gracie Shafter and Addie Hendricks won by forfeit at second doubles for Oceanside.

Lincoln Academy 4, Camden Hills 1

At Newcastle May 4, the Eagles soared past the visiting Windjammers.

The individual results, with Camden Hills players listed first, were: In singles, Kat O'Brien lost to Caitlin Cass, 1-6, 0-6; Eliza Nickelson lost to Olivia Nixon, 0-6, 0-6; and Hannah Fiske lost to Isobel Petersen, 0-6, 2-6.

In doubles, Seanna Montgomery and Elena D'Antonio lost to Claire Colburn and Charlotte Hilton, 1-6, 2-6; and Julia Russell and Amelie Wold defeated Katie Guerrero and Lily Swanberg, 6-0, 6-0.

Boys

Medomak Valley 5, Oceanside 0

At Rockland May 4, the Panthers blanked the host Mariners.

The individual results, with Medomak Valley players listed first, were: In singles, Coleman Swain beat Brady Marchessault, 6-3, 6-2; Zach Cheesman beat Andrew Peaco, 6-1, 6-1; and Nash Ludwig beat Michael Frost, 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles, Trenton Hooper and Zan Nguyen beat Nate Fogarty and Jack Scanlon, 6-0, 6-0. Medomak Valley won by forfeit at second doubles.

Belfast 5, Brewer 0

At Belfast May 4, the Lions netted a convincing win over the Witches.

The individual results, with Belfast players listed first, were: In singles, Kyle Agbuya beat Jackson Weirich, 8-0; Daniel Snyder beat Cayen Philbrook, 8-4; and Ethan Hall beat Dylan Thibodeau, 8-0.

In doubles, Steven Friel and Zubar Yacoe beat Ashton Reardon and Swaroop Handral, 8-4; and Eli Slaughter and Zeke Slaughter beat Jack Stuber and Kaleb Westman, 8-6.

Camden Hills 5, Lincoln Academy 0

At Rockport May 4, the Windjammers had no problem as they sailed past the visiting Eagles.

The individual results, with Camden Hills players listed first, were: In singles, Owen Markowitz beat M. Russano, 6-1, 6-1; Noah Thackeray beat F. Diakonowicz, 6-0, 6-0; and Lincoln Pierce beat P. Nguyen, 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles, Liam O'Dwyer and Angus Carter beat J. Ross and S. Le, 6-0, 6-4; and Espen Wold and Wilson Fedarko beat B. Dang and M. Maciejewicz, 6-1, 6-0.
